GET TO KNOW...NANCY SAUER!

In this fourteenth in a series of mini-interviews, learn more about our Threads of Success speakers and their sessions!

On Sunday, October 27, from 3:25-4:10 pm, Sauer will present “Plan-Do-Succeed: How to Create a Business Plan.”

Why did you want to participate in the Threads of Success conference?

I am a lover of quilts and sewing, a business owner and a member of the adjunct business school faculties at Rice University and the University of Oklahoma. My passion is to help entrepreneurs become successful.

What was the biggest challenge for you in breaking into this business?

The biggest challenge in business is to see beyond the present and anticipate the challenges of the future. Effective business plans allow you to “see around the corners” of your business and plan accordingly.

What is the one piece of advice you wish you knew then that you do now?

An efficient “back office” will free you to create and sell without unnecessary distractions. Spend the time necessary to create this important structure for your business.

What is the most important thing you hope people take away from your presentation?

You have access to all that you need to be successful if you plan well and then execute well on your plan.

Any other comments?

As I enjoy a trunk full of heirloom quilts inherited from my great -grandmother, I see her care in every creative design and stitch. I see her love of color, her personality and her skill. I “see” her. Let your business reflect the same care as an heirloom quilt!
